How to Consign

We are a Women & Children's Consignment Boutique
We accept women and children’s clothing, accessories, maternity, children’s toys and small houseware items.
Consignment Process
- WE ARE ACCEPTING NEW CONSIGNORS AS OF JANUARY 6TH.
- You receive 40% of the selling price unless item exceeds $100 then you gain 50% of selling price. A nominal item fee is added to the price of each item (retained by HMU) and will not be reflected on your inventory list.
- For current consignors, a maximum of 10 clothing items may be dropped off each week between the hours of 10-4pm (excluding Wednesdays) and will be processed in the order received.
- All merchandise on consignment is kept for a total of 8 weeks. At 6 weeks the items may be marked 50% off. If you wish to retrieve your unsold items, please come in before the 8 weeks are up. You will be given an inventory sheet and you will be required to locate your items. (Allow plenty of time to look through racks.) Please be aware: Hand Me Up’s is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Clothing not picked up after 8 weeks is the property of the store and may be donated to non-profits or charities.
- Holiday items will be marked down ONE WEEK before the holiday no matter when the items were dropped off. Other items might be marked down without notice and/or may be a part of a sale promotion.
Consignment Guidelines
- We know that your items are valuable to you, however we rely on experience and current selling trends to determine what will be accepted in our store. We look for current styles and clothing that have the best chance of selling and that customers will want to buy.
- Hand Me Up’s will not accept the following brands: Faded Glory, Gloria Vanderbilt, No Boundaries, Garanimals, George, Mossimo, and Cherokee.
- All clothing must be freshly laundered, folded, and pressed or dry-cleaned. The more time you take in preparing your things for consignment, the more successful Hand-Me-Up’s will be selling your items. No plastic garbage or grocery bags please.
- No stained or damaged clothing will be accepted! Items with PET HAIR, smoke, or odors will NOT be accepted. Please check all items closely before you bring them in.
- Clothing is taken seasonally:
- Spring: February 3rd, 2025 – April 5th, 2025
- Summer: April 7th, 2025 – August 2nd, 2025
- Fall: August 4th, 2025 – October 4th, 2025
- Winter: October 6th, 2025 – January 31st, 2025
Hand Me Up’s will not accept the following items:
- No Baby Cribs
- No Car Seats
- No Children’s Metal Jewelry
- No Recalled Products
- No Wedding Dresses
- No Bridesmaid Dresses
- No Garage Sale Rejects
- No Consignment Sale Rejects
- No Stuffed Animals (popular characters accepted)
- No Opened Box Puzzles
Every time you come in to Consign:
- Stop by the check in door and put your 10 items in one of our provided baskets
- Check in with us and give us your Account # as well as Full Name.
- Sign in on the Clipboard and let us know if you want to do Pick-up or Donate
Donate: We go through your items in order received and any we cannot accept are passed on to our charity.
Consignor Perks!
Payout Policy
- Shop with your Store Credit and receive 10% of the amount of credit used as an additional discount!
- Example: $50 Store Credit used = $5 Discount
- Consignors may take a check from their account 1 time per calendar month. (For the previous month)
- Example: March pays out a February check, April pays out a March check.
Checks will be issued at $25 and above. No more cash payouts.
Money or credit will expire and be forfeited after 1 year if not claimed.
